Progress.

AIRlabs combines research, technology development and regulatory expertise under one roof – for safe, innovative and application-oriented solutions in drone technology.

Safe procedures.
Mastering complex missions.

AIRlabs Austria offers comprehensive advice and support for all regulatory requirements in the field of drone operations – from the SPECIFIC operating category and standard scenarios to individual SORA applications. Our experts accompany you throughout the entire approval process: from preliminary discussions with Austro Control to the preparation of specific risk assessments (SORA), operational concepts (ConOps) and emergency procedures (ERP) to the integration of feedback from the authorities. Thanks to many years of cooperation with the Austrian aviation authority and experience with demanding missions – such as Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations – we offer tailor-made solutions for complex research and development projects.
AIRlabs stands for practical, legally compliant and individually tailored consulting – so that innovative UAV projects can get off to a safe start.

From Idea.
To Implementation.

AIRlabs Austria is a research partner for innovative UAV technologies – from conception and simulation to practical testing. With an interdisciplinary network of experts, we develop and support research projects that set new standards in unmanned aviation.

Our services include the development of thematic test scenarios, business case analyses, numerical simulations, AI-supported data evaluation and visualisation. In addition, we offer technical support for radio network analyses, flight control systems, de-icing technologies and human-machine interfaces (HMI).

Whether basic research or applied development, AIRlabs bridges the gap between scientific excellence and practical applicability.

‘Innovation does not begin with the perfect idea, but with the courage to turn it into reality.’
Yvonne Gerster, Marketing & PR, AIRlabs Austria

Realistic testing.
Safe development.

Simulations are a central component of our research and development work. AIRlabs Austria uses state-of-the-art simulation methods to analyse and validate UAV systems, sensors and operating procedures under realistic conditions.
Our expertise ranges from flight simulations and multi-UAV scenarios to transponder and radio network analyses and icing simulations with a focus on de-icing systems and ice detectors. In addition, we model and visualise flight routes, evasive manoeuvres and highly complex operational scenarios
– safely, efficiently and comprehensively. In this way, we lay the foundation for research and development that minimises risks and accelerates technological innovation.

Personalised advice
‘Successful projects thrive on exchange – only by talking to each other can we create something new together.’
Kristóf Gombás, project manager, AIRlabs Austria

Experience in the air.
Knowledge on the ground.

Our drone pilots have many years of practical experience in research, development and operational flight operations. This experience flows directly into our projects – from mission planning and risk analysis to precise execution under real-world conditions. Through their active participation in test missions and demonstration flights, they ensure that every mission is technically sound, safe and efficient.

In addition, AIRlabs imparts knowledge through practical training courses and workshops – both for pilots and for organisations that want to use drone technologies safely and responsibly. Together with FH JOANNEUM, we provide a NIST course where flying skills can be specifically trained and assessed. The course is aimed in particular at emergency services such as fire brigades and rescue services and makes an important contribution to quality, safety and operational readiness in UAV operations.

Science becomes clear.
Innovation becomes tangible.

AIRlabs Austria is actively committed to knowledge transfer between research, industry and society. We present scientific findings in an understandable way, communicate project results in a manner appropriate to the target audience and promote acceptance of drone technologies in public spaces.

Whether through publications, specialist articles or awareness campaigns, we make complex topics visible and show how research and innovation can create real added value.
