The high-alpine Steinalpl test area in the Styrian Mürzsteg Alps offers ideal conditions for UAV flights under real environmental and weather conditions. Due to its remote location, Steinalpl is particularly suitable for tests requiring increased data protection and privacy, as well as for natural icing experiments, for example within the FFG Take Off project IFIRE.

The Reichersberg test area in the Innviertel region of Upper Austria, close to the German border, offers optimal conditions for operational drone testing in industrial and mixed-population environments. With its combination of agricultural areas, industrial infrastructure and transport routes, the area is particularly suitable for deployment simulations, inspection flights and training missions. Reichersberg is ideal for initial flight tests, hover tests and public safety applications that prepare for operations in urban or semi-urban environments, providing realistic conditions with a controllable level of risk.

The Frauschereck test area in Upper Austria, close to the German border, offers ideal conditions for UAV training and sensor testing in an extensive, forestry-shaped environment. With more than 100 km2 of area and an elevation profile ranging from around 444 to 755 m AMSL, the region is particularly suitable for BVLOS operations, long-range flights and advanced training scenarios under real environmental conditions. Thanks to its location, Frauschereck is easily accessible from all regions of Austria as well as for international partners. The combination of forested terrain and remote open areas makes the Frauschereck drone test area an optimal environment for agricultural and forestry applications, monitoring and inspection tasks, and scenario-based training for both civilian and governmental use cases.

The Hochkar test area is located in the Lower Austrian part of the Ybbstal Alps. With demanding weather conditions, varied terrain and significant elevation changes, the area offers ideal conditions for BVLOS operations, sensor testing and training missions under real-world conditions. Due to its location, Hochkar is particularly well suited for testing product innovations, transport missions or search and rescue scenarios in challenging environmental conditions. The combination of alpine terrain and stable communication infrastructure creates an optimal environment for advanced training activities and system validation.

The LOGG Punitz airfield in southern Burgenland offers ideal conditions for UAS testing that requires take-off and landing capabilities. With an 800 m asphalt runway, hangar and office infrastructure, and integration with existing aviation and communication systems, the site is particularly suitable for initial flight trials, hover maneuvers, range tests and BVLOS operations. LOGG Punitz also enables demonstrations and training activities in the ATM/UTM context, supporting the integration of unmanned aircraft systems into manned aviation. Thanks to its controlled environment, the airfield is ideal for verification and system safety testing of fixed-wing UAVs and heavy UAVs.
