Drone platforms and payloads
DJI Matrice 300 RTK with Zenmuse P1
The DJI Matrice 300 RTK is a robust enterprise drone that is particularly suitable for demanding inspection and surveying tasks. Depending on the configuration and payload, it offers long flight times, a powerful propulsion system and advanced safety features such as obstacle detection and redundancies.
In combination with the Zenmuse P1, you get a high-precision photogrammetry system: the P1 has a 45-megapixel full-frame sensor, a 3-axis gimbal and is specially designed for efficient surveying flights (e.g. large-area flights in a single flight).
Typical areas of application:
- Aerial photography and orthophoto creation
- Precise 3D modelling and mapping
- Test flights in complex terrain (e.g. alpine test areas)
Holybro Research Platform (Quadcopter)
Our Holybro platform (based on a modular carbon frame, e.g. Holybro X500 series) is ideal for research and development projects involving the testing of sensor technology, control algorithms or new components. The carbon frame is lightweight, robust and offers sufficient space for additional payloads, companion computers and proprietary electronics.
Typical areas of application:
- UAV research and teaching
- Prototyping new control approaches or sensor setups
- Experiments with alternative avionics and on-board electronics
Parrot ANAFI
The Parrot ANAFI Thermal is a compact, foldable drone that features a 4K HDR video camera with 21-megapixel photo capability and an integrated thermal camera system. The thermal imaging camera enables the detection and analysis of temperature differences, making the drone particularly suitable for inspection, security and documentation tasks. The camera unit can be rotated vertically by a total of 180° (-90° to +90°), which also allows for upward shots. Under standard conditions, the flight time is around 25 minutes with a take-off weight of approximately 320 g.
Typical areas of application (with a focus on thermal cameras):
- Thermographic inspections, e.g. for checking building envelopes, detecting heat loss or analysing roof surfaces.
- Security and surveillance tasks, e.g. night-time inspection flights, early hazard detection or fire and hotspot detection.
- Documentation and visualisation flights requiring a combination of visual and thermal data (e.g. agriculture, environmental monitoring, animal tracking).
- Training courses, training sessions and demonstrations in the field of thermal imaging technology and UAV-based inspections.
GCSD4RRV2 – Professional Portable Ground Control Station
The GCSD4RRV2 is a professional, portable ground station from DMD Digital Micro Devices for the secure control and monitoring of UAVs over long distances. Equipped with a redundant smart antenna, it enables reliable data and control connections with ranges of up to 200 km. The system is designed for demanding test and deployment scenarios and is particularly suitable for BVLOS operations, research flights and mission-critical applications.
GNSS reference systems
EMLID Reach RS2+
The EMLID Reach RS2+ is a multi-band RTK GNSS receiver with centimetre accuracy for surveying, mapping and navigation. The system supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou, is IP67-rated and designed for a temperature range of approximately –20 °C to +65 °C.
Typical applications:
- Reference station for UAV survey flights
- Geodetic measurement of ground control points (GCPs)
- GNSS-supported test setups in the field
GNSS tracking and airspace visibility
Dronetag – Mini
The Dronetag Mini is a compact, lightweight remote ID module that can be attached to almost any drone. Weighing only 32 g, the device offers both direct (broadcast) remote ID and network remote ID, thus meeting current European and international requirements (including prEN 4709-002, ASTM F3411).
The Dronetag Mini transmits identification and telemetry data either via Bluetooth with a range of up to approximately 3 km or via mobile communications (LTE-M / NB-IoT) in real time. An integrated GNSS receiver (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, SBAS) as well as a barometer and IMU ensure precise position and altitude data. Depending on the operating mode, the battery life is around 8–14 hours, while the take-off weight remains minimal.
Typical areas of application:
- Drone operations that require legally mandated remote ID compliance
- Flights in urban or regulated airspace, including U-space environments
- Operations that require continuous monitoring or tracking of the drone
Training, testing and demonstrations in the field of remote ID and UAV regulations
Robin Radar ELVIRA
Robin Radar ELVIRA is a radar system for detecting and classifying birds, drones (UAS) and manned aircraft. It supports 360-degree surveillance and enables improved situational awareness in the relevant airspace.
ELVIRA can be used to address the following issues, among others:
- Detection and identification of birds of various sizes
- Detection and classification of micro- to mid-scale UAS (e.g. DJI M300, smaller Holybro platforms, FPV systems)
- Investigation of radar signatures and detection limits (e.g. UAV swarms)
- Analysis of interference factors such as vegetation, humidity and moving objects
- Contribution to increasing the safety of UAV operations and as a building block in counter-UAS scenarios
Measurement and testing technology
Sound level measurement with DEWESoft SIRIUS Mini
We offer sound level measurements on UAVs for the preparation of noise certificates in accordance with ZLZV and ICAO Annex 16. The measurements are performed using a DEWESoft SIRIUS Mini System, a compact, USB-powered 4-channel data acquisition system for sound and vibration measurements, which can be used in conjunction with Dewesoft sound level solutions as a high-precision sound level meter (Class 1 according to IEC 61672).
Scope of services (excerpt):
- Sound level measurements on provided UAVs to obtain a noise certificate (ZLZV – Annex A)
- Calibration of the measurement chain in accordance with relevant IEC standards (e.g. IEC 61672, IEC 60942)
- Documentation of measurement conditions, environmental parameters and necessary corrections
- Performance of measurements in suitable test areas of AIRlabs or at a pre-selected, standard-compliant measurement location
Typical areas of application:
- Verification of noise compliance in accordance with ZLZV
- Comparative measurements of different UAV platforms
- Support for approval procedures and research projects on noise emissions
Communication and flight safety
Aircraft radio with GPS
To increase flight safety, we provide a portable aeronautical radio (VHF Airband) with GPS functionality. This allows you to listen in on radio communications or, with the appropriate authorisation, establish direct contact with manned aircraft and air traffic control centres.
Important note:
A valid general radio licence (AFZ) in accordance with the official requirements for mobile aeronautical radio services is required for use or rental.
Typical areas of application:
- Announcement of search, ambulance or rescue flights to UAS operators
- Coordination of UAV operations in the vicinity of manned aircraft
- Test scenarios in which real radio communication is to be included
