Area measurement with lidar sensor during BVLOS operations

Technical project manager Robin Deutsch (AIRlabs) presented the project on area measurements using lidar sensors, which was successfully implemented at the beginning of September in cooperation with Riegl and ElevonX. He shed light on the system requirements and their implementation, with the Alpine conditions leading to discussions about new research ideas. Further demo days are already being planned for spring 2025.

Digital Airspace – a collaboration between Dimetor and AIRlabs

Dimetor representative Gorazd Mirkovski outlined the benefits of digital airspace for BVLOS flights and highlighted links between telecommunications providers and aviation. In a joint innovation project between AIRlabs, A1 and Dimetor, which was carried out in the Frauschereck test area. It was possible to precisely record mobile network coverage using drone-based measurements and to optimise safety requirements. Finally, Mirkovski presented the AirborneRF system live to illustrate the potential of such data analyses for unmanned aviation.

Outlook for new TAKE OFF projects

AIRlabs also presented its new TAKE OFF projects, in which it is acting as consortium leader. The upcoming projects promise significant developments and close cooperation with partners.
