SORA – Specific Operational Risk Assessment

The SORA (Specific Operational Risk Assessment) process is an essential part of the authorisation process for drone operations, especially for complex missions such as Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS). This serves to assess the associated risks of a mission and develop risk mitigation measures to ensure the safe execution of the flights.
At AIRlabs Austria, we support you throughout the entire process of your operating permit. This begins with support in a pre-application meeting with Austro Control, the implementation and creation of SORAs and operational concepts (ConOps) including ERP, through to the incorporation of feedback from the authorities and support for your operations.

We work closely with the Austrian aviation authority to drive forward innovative drone projects that often go beyond the current state of the art. This includes missions in difficult environments or under complex operating conditions.

This includes in particular

BVLOS missions

Flights outside the pilot’s line of sight require precise planning and risk assessment, in addition to technological prerequisites, as these require special measures.

Emergency Response Plan

In the event of emergencies, e.g. drone loss or unexpected risks, a response plan must be in place to ensure safe operations.

Workload Analysis

This assesses normal and emergency procedures and determines the workload of the remote crew. The reasonableness of the workload is confirmed by AIRlabs experts.
