On Wednesday, 19 April, AIRlabs was a guest at a seminar held by the Pichl Forestry Training Centre in St. Barbara im Mürztal. The event was titled “Flying helpers – possible applications of drones in the forest” and essentially covered the use of drones and related equipment in forestry. Among other things, the following exciting topics were discussed:

  • Which daily tasks can be carried out more easily and efficiently with the help of drones?
  • What legal backgrounds have to be taken into account?
  • Which different devices are available on the market?

Dr.-Ing. Holger Friehmelt (FH JOANNEUM) and Mag. Dr. Gernot Seier were also presenters – their contributions dealt with innovative ideas for drone use in forestry and how orthophotos can be implemented more quickly in practice. AIRlabs presented both theoretical concepts and the practical use of UAS-based aerial photographs and the orthophotos as well as digital elevation models that can be generated from them.
