AIRlabs Austria is always striving to expand the existing infrastructure and competence portfolio with additional assets, enabling the entire consortium to access new research branches.

Therefore, in the past weeks, the AIRlabs team has prepared and advanced the acquisition of an experimental radar for the detection, identification and monitoring of UAS. This system is designed to increase safety during flight operations and detect small multicopters as well as larger drones at distances of at least two kilometers, regardless of weather conditions.

Another requirement is that the system must be mobile and thus able to operate independently of the power grid. In addition, the system needs to feature an open-interface design for experimental applications. The service package to be purchased should also include an onsite display as well as maintenance contracts and corresponding basic and advanced training.

In addition, we would like to thank our partners from the Institute of Microwave and Photonic Engineering at the Graz University of Technology and from the Schiebel Corporation for their technical support.
